People Power
In today’s fast-paced, multi-tasking, commitment-oriented
society, caring and nurturing yourself is usually at the bottom
of the priority list. Sleep problems, weight and health concerns,
mood changes, and poor performance are the result of living
life on the run.
“Your
body is the temple of your soul!” These words of wisdom
ring true…
learning to nurture, pamper, and care for your body and soul
is crucial for life-long health and happiness.
LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOPS
offer comprehensive, detailed guidelines that guarantee success
in CREATING CHANGE WITHIN!!!
HERE
ARE JUST A FEW SIMPLE STEPS TO BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY…
Sleep
habits
Most people average 5-8 hours per night, but a large percentage
of people are chronically sleep-deprived. Frequent sleep problems
include difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep and awakening
feeling tired and fatigued.
If
you are having sleep difficulties, here are a few of many
ideas that will enhance sleep:
- Train
your brain to associate your bed for sleep / sex only…
if you can’t fall asleep in 20 minutes, get
up. Don’t watch TV or read in bed.
-
Use visual imagery of a peaceful scene to turn your
mind off. Stay with a calm scene and allow those “to
do” thoughts to drift on by. This takes practice,
but is very effective.
- Create
a restful environment… fountain, calm music,
darkened windows, eye mask, ear plugs

Diet
and Nutrition
Fast facts… Energy comes from carbohydrates, fats, and
proteins. Diet should be roughly 55-60% carbohydrates, 10-15%
protein, and 25-30% fat. Read labels to educate yourself on
what is in the food you eat. Understanding
your body’s needs and making healthy food choices is
the key to weight management and good nutrition!
- Follow
a well-balanced diet… more grains, nuts, fruits
and vegetables
-
Eat ONLY when you are hungry… not as a habit
or on a schedule
- Choose
healthy snacks… fruit, nuts, popcorn, pretzels,
and raw vegetables

Exercise
and Physical Activity
Exercise
and physical activity will allow you to rediscover your body’s
health and resilience. To reduce stress and feel energized,
commit to strengthen and tone your body with exercise, stretching
and rest.
 |
Create
a vision of yourself feeling better, moving gracefully,
and being comfortable with your body. Here are a
few ideas to get you started…
- For
STRENGTH, try doing yard
work, gardening, carrying groceries, and
lifting weights
- For
ENDURANCE, try walking
briskly, dancing, playing sports, and
working out on exercise equipment
- For
FLEXIBILITY and BALANCE,
try stretching exercises, yoga, pilates,
or Tai Chi

Take time for yourself
Protect a few minutes in your day to relax and reflect by prioritizing
time to “re-charge your batteries”. The absolute
key to balanced living is making a conscious choice to care
for yourself.
- Accept
responsibility for your well-being
-
Connect with your passion… do what “drives”
you
-
Set boundaries on commitments

“Now is not the time to think of what
you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there
is.”
-Ernest Hemingway
